It is written in eighteen chapters which are almost self-contained. Furthermore, all keywords of condensed matter are dealt with and expanded in a detailed manner: crystals, phonons, electrons, solids, semiconductors, electronics, spintronics, diamagnetism, paramagnetism, superconductivity, fermions, nanoclusters. Horrible textbook

The author commits wholesale plagiarism from the classic solid-state physics text by Ashcroft and Mermin, but he can't even plagiarize competently -- the book is full of typographical errors. Not worth the paper it's printed on.

Excellent book for beginners as well as for practitioners

"Physics of Condensed Matter" by Prasanta K. Misra is written for the graduate and advanced undergraduate students in physics and related fields. In addition to the standard topics in condensed matter physics, the book also covers several advanced topics covering cutting-edge developments allowing the student to get a flavor of advanced materials not found in typical condensed matter text books. The book is written at a pedagogical manner with a concise treatment and many of the tedious derivations are relegated to the end-of-chapter problems. Overall, it is an excellent book for beginning students and also it can serve as a reference book for advanced practitioners in the field.
