Amazing

When I read what Falling Behind was about I wasn't sure I was wanting to read it about high school kids being in love. However that could be farthest from the truth. Falling Behind is about 3 best friends Candice, Titus, and Reese and how being sophomores in high school could be fun but have their dangers as well. When Candice and Reese start dating Seniors their worlds get turned upside down. One is dealing with abuse and denial and the other with verbal abuse she didn't recognized. Falling Behind is a book that both teens and adults should read about how speaking out on Violence in Schools can help protect our friends and children. When your best friend is being abused and you speak up to late the consequences can be devastating. Candice and Reese had one common friend who they could count on Titus read how his love for the girls makes him a stronger person. This is a 5-star read and I know anyone who reads it will enjoy it.

Dee wrote a book about a real, painful subject that normally doesn't get talked about. People avoid the signs and act like they don't see the abuse happening. We turn away and make up a story in our minds that make us feel better. To make us believe that what we saw isn't true. Verbal, physical, and emotional abuse happens everyday and abuse doesn't matter what color you are, what age you are or if you are a boy or a girl. It happens and no matter your age it still hurts and makes you feel lost. Dee wrote this book very well and really made me open my eyes on abuse. If you know someone who you think is getting abused this is a great short read to recommend to them.

Ty, Reese and Candice were all best friends and did everything together. Until boyfriends came around and the 3 started pulling apart. What do you do when you can tell your friend is in danger but keeps making excuses that everything is ok. That the bruise on her wrist was an accident. Do you keep quiet? Do you tell someone? Do you risk losing your friend by opening your mouth? Read this story and find out what decisions these 3 friends have to make.

I give this book 3.5 stars!

What a debut!!

From the moment I started reading I was completely lost in the story. Ms.Avila managed to get my attention and kept it through the entire book. In fact, I could not put it down. The emotions that were portrayed were so real that I felt like I was part of the story. The characters of Reese and Titus just took my breath away with the strength of their relationship. The emotional ups and downs were described so perfectly that I found my emotions going along for the ride. Ms.Avila wrote about some very tough topics and did so brilliantly. Be prepared however for the end of the book. I gasped out loud as I read the last sentence which left me hanging anxiously awaiting the next book in the series. I highly recommend you read this book.

About the Author
I often felt awkward in a church setting so I quit the pastorate after 22 years. I'm done with religion. But not with God. After earning a M.Div. degree from Princeton Theological Seminary I was voted out of two pastorates because I've never gotten along with stuffy parishioners and trampled over their traditions at every opportunity. I'm an outgoing, charismatic orator who inspires confidence and conviction in my audiences, but I love being alone in crowds. That's where I was, in my minivan on a crowded street, when I heard the audible voice of God tell me to WRITE! Today I'm the author of a growing catalog of fiction and non-fiction titles, many of them illustrating the power of God's G.R.A.C.E. to heal and restore souls damaged by any form of parental rejection, abandonment, abuse, or neglect.

Really liked this book

I read a lot of books. I really liked this book. The book was so descriptive I could imagine myself in some of the scenes. I am totally waiting on a sequel to this book. I want to know what happens in Dr. Hooks' as well as Mother Freddie's situation. So as not to give the ending away, I would recommend that you read this book. I finished it in a couple of days because of work and other time constraints. Needless to say, I would read another book with Dr. Hook in it in a heart beat. Awesome book in my humble opinion!!

Excellent book for the price

Two things are noteworthy about this book: the excellent black-white illustrations and quick review over common radiology questions. The book is divided by radiology sections, and usually start off with simple anatomy pictures and labelled illustrations of the relevant modality. This is very nice, since many radiology texts do not bother to show examples and illustrations of relevant anatomy. The illustrations are also much more valuable then looking at an atlas like Netter's, since only important radiological structures are drawn. The lists of differential diagnoses are good, though they require you to already what each diagnosis is. I don't find that a problem considering the size and scope of the book.

You do not need lots of pictures to learn radiology!

This book is a great way to start getting acquainted with Radiology. It gives a good background on some technological facts and a useful coverage of specific pathologies that you need for differential diagnosis. Emphasis on background knowledge can be more helpful for learning in radiology then simply looking at radiology picture examples. This is a great book for medical students in their last 2 years of uni!

Laugh out loud look into the minds and crazy antics of the hex boys.

I got to say there's never a dull moment when the HEX Boys are around.

I love the interviews almost as much as I love the books, and not only did this little gem brighten up my long day, but it had nice little treats of deleted scenes and, to top it off they were told from alternate POV's. I always get giddy when I can get inside one of their heads and get to know what they were thinking when a dire situation happened, and thoughts on the after math.

I love the banter between the boys, and it brought me back to when I was out in the field while on course. (Last month I was on a Military Leadership course, thus way I am light-years behind in my reviewing :( ...la sigh) The boys, were in all sense nuts, (They had a weird sleeping bag fight at 5 in the morning. I nearly died..laughing.. )

In all, if you love the Divinicus Nex Chronicles #1 and 2, then you need to read this laugh out loud look into the minds and crazy antics of the hex boys.

I can't wait for Demons in Disguise coming in a few short weeks >.< , oh my heart, I might go mad waiting.

Can't Get Anymore Hyped

OMG I loved this so much, it was better than the first one!!

The interviews held by a lot of the awesome bloggers were hilarious (Auggie, you my hero girl) and it built up a lot of hype for the third book, Demons in Disguise. God, I missed the Hex Boys. Especially Blake, who for some reason ISN'T MY AGE YET??? *sad face* It was a really nice treat from the authors to willingly share their boys with us fans. Gah, and Aurora was interviewed a few times! I loved the profile on her. But the biggest treat- aside from every single interview that Blake maybe sorta ruined -were all the different POVs from the first two books Demons at Deadnight and Drop Dead Demons by my boys! Who doesn't love more material from your favorite characters? (Team Matthias)

Die Behistun-Inschrift hat ihren Namen von dem Ort Besutun (Behistan) im Iran, wo König Darius I. (522-486 v. Chr.) eine Abbildung von sich in ein Felsmassiv einmeißeln ließ. Dazu ließ Dareios eine dreisprachige Tafel, in den Sprachen altpersisch, elamisch und babylonisch unter dem Relief anbringen. Da viele Reisende an eben dieser Stelle vorbeigekommen sein sollen war es der ideale Standort für Dareios seine militärischen Siege zu verewigen und zur Schau zu stellen. Die Inschrift erzählt wie der höchste Gott der Perser, Ahura Masda, Dareios auserwählt um über Persien zu herrschen und wie er zahlreiche Revolten niederschlägt und seine Feinde besiegt.
Das Relief zeigt Darieos mit zwei seiner Diener, der eine trägt eine Lanze der andere einen Bogen. Dareios schaut auf neun, vor ihm in einer Reihe stehende und offenbar gefesselte, Personen und steht mit seinem Fuß auf einer zehnten, liegenden Person. Über der gesamten Szene schwebt die Gottheit Ahura Masda. Unter dieser Szene befindet sich eine Inschrift in altpersisch die sich über vier Spalten erstreckt und die Geschichte von Dareios Eroberung erzählt. Die gleiche Geschichte wird in zwei weiteren Inschriften auf babylonisch und elamisch erzählt.

About the Author
Jay Wile fell in love with chemistry when his parents bought him his first chemistry set. Many stink bombs and a few explosions later, he was hooked! He attended the University of Rochester to study chemistry and, while there, became fascinated with nuclear chemistry, eventually earning a PhD in that field. For several years, he did research under the auspices of the Department of Energy and the National Science Foundation while serving as an assistant professor of chemistry. Dr. Wile has won many awards for excellence in teaching and research. In addition, he has authored or co-authored nine books.

My 9 year old loves this book!

I bought this Popular Christmas Songs book for my 9 year old daughter to learn Christmas songs for the holidays last year. It was very easy for her to learn and she is a Level 1 beginner piano player. She couldn't put the book down and I would catch her practicing in her spare time without me asking her to do so. This is her favorite book by far. It has a lot of popular well know songs. This book contains 11 Christmas songs:

Angels We Have Heard on High, Deck the Halls, First Noell, Good King Wenceslas, Jingle Bells, Jolly Old Saint Nicholas, O Christmas Tree, Little Town of Bethlehem, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Silent Night and Up on the Housetop.

She was so proud to learn all the songs and master them and play them for our family during the holidays. Wen bought this book used and it came in very good condition. You couldn't even tell it was used. I will definitely be looking for other song books from this company. Great buy!

Stuffed elephant, two children, and roaring giants in this exciting YA novel by Ted Kelsey

Ted Kelsey wrote Olga, a delightful YA novel that felt like Alice falling deep in rabbit hole and ending up in Wonderland - except that in Olga, it was not just one but two persons, Sally and Jack, who were flown to the clouds, and eventually reached Cloud Castle, by a stuffed elephant - and Neil Gaiman's Coraline, when she discovered another world different from the one she was living in.

The comparison ends in those areas though as Kelsey wrote the story with a voice distinctly his, devoid of the attempt to sound like Rowling or Gaiman or the Grimm Brothers. Kelsey wrote in short, simple sentences but carefully selected words, uncomplicated and yet exciting enough to keep you reading until the very last page. The story's pacing is unhurried evident by the chapter division, which is neither long nor short for readers falling between the ages of seven and 12.

The story gains momentum when our child protagonists, Jack and Sally, discovered something suspicious in the old, abandoned house. What they thought as one evening of discovering ghosts in the dark turned out to be an adventure on the clouds and meeting a character named Olga along with her father Ragash and a cook named Freakything.

In this novel, Kelsey marries two realms, reality and fantasy, and places two children, Jack and Sally, this story's protagonists, in the middle of the action that involved clouds, giants, moths, and a tiger. Kelsey did not paint a rosy picture of the human world as seen from the eyes of the children in this story. He wrote a realistic world, one that a reader can relate to when she reads about curfew, school, and being grounded. The underlying messages of humankind's indifference to nature and arrogance in dealing with issues are subtly painted in the conversations of several characters, who have witnessed everything that humankind have done over the centuries.

Kelsey sneaked in an airplane in the story and a character under the name Mr. Dodadudis whose appearance did not directly change the course of the story. The airplane is not irrelevant though and you'll know why in Chapter 24. Kelsey hinted another book with Mr. Dodadudis playing central character. Wise, nice insertion adding spice to the Kelsey writing and series of stories.

Kelsey teamed up with artist Dillon Samuelson in providing black and white illustrations to the story. This reminded me of Neil Gaiman and Chris Riddel's collaboration in three of Gaiman's novels, Coraline, Fortunately, the Milk..., and The Graveyard Book. These three books are sold in one collection on Amazon.

Samuelson's illustrations in Kelsey's novel is only a handful though. I wish there was more. Yes, this reviewer (a 29-year-old mother of three graduate student slash journalist slash social develoment worker) would love more pictures.

Olga is also a perfect weekend read for adults looking for reading materials that won't cause them cerebral hemorrhage. This one is fun and lighthearted and yet, it did not forget to emphasize the crucial role that humans play in this world. What that role is up for you to find out. Clue: it's pretty obvious.

Olga is a 5 Star/Top Pick for 2015 by the Underground Book Reviews and recently received Official Selection Honors in the Young Adult category of the 2015 New Apple Summer eBook Awards for Excellence in Independent Publishing.

Kelsey is slowly building his name as a celebrated author of children's literature who makes winter reading warm and fuzzy. His next book, Shasha and Wally Watson Vs The Faker, is coming out soon. If you like to open your mind - and well, your heart - to a new author who writes in a voice that delivers a social message in a non-preachy way and then coat that message in a chocolate and caramel mixture of excitement, fun, and magic, get to know Ted Kelsey and his works. Captured My Attention

Olga is a refreshing read for it's unexpected plot and characters. The premise is quite unique that I was intrigued, wondering what was happening in this untold world of giants. The actions thrilled, moving quickly, and the characters developed well. Each chapter dangles a carrot in front of you, enticing you to continue reading. I finished this book in three days.

Ted Kelsey does an excellent job unraveling the symbolism of the novel with integrity, not losing the tone and flow of the novel, and without becoming didactic. The message of courage and inner strength resonates well as the young protagonists, Jack and Sally, discover their real selves in the midst of grotesque fear and evil. Recommend not just for adolescents but adults as well.

If you enjoy reading fantasy novels that are easy to read, fast-paced, and creatively articulate, this novel is for you.

Olga, a children’s novel by Ted Kelsey is an inventive and enjoyable story about two young people, Sally and Jack, who get caught up – literally – in a bit of mischief that takes them on an adventure in the clouds. Once there they encounter Olga, the unhappy daughter of an evil cloud giant who has been plotting with his brothers to go to earth and destroy it. Jack has to learn to be brave, and both he and Sally struggle to avoid the many dangers they face in the cloud kingdom, as they figure out a way to escape from the clouds and return to their families back on earth. The illustrations in the book by artist Dillon Samuelson are extremely well done, and they help bring this entertaining story to life. Samuelson is a terrific artist! Olga is an ideal selection for parents who love to read to their children at bedtime.
