Good read!

First off, this isn't a book you're going to read in a weekend. Let's face it, 500 pages of microeconomics isn't a lazy stroll through the park.
That being said, the writing *is* remarkably easy to read and follow. Far from being jam packed with academic arguments overburdened with arduous language, Slavin writes in a down to earth style, plucking examples from recent headlines. The arguments are relevant to what's happening today, and only those who have been living under a rock for the past ten years will be confused by what he's trying to communicate.
As a side note, that it's a slightly more reasonably priced text on the subject was well received; though in truth, the textbook industry should do more to put a check on the "second tuition bill" that students are paying. When students are expected to shell out thousands of dollars a semester on books alone, this becomes a drag on the economy -- something I'm sure the author well knows.
All told, I'm a bit over 100 pages in, and have a good understanding of what I've read. It's not the kind of summer reading most people would be looking for, but on the other hand, it's not the kind of required reading that most people would be running from. Slavin's treatment of an often dry subject matter is a pleasant one that doesn't get in the way of learning.

Something is wrong with the Kindle Version!

I rented this book for a class but was unable to open it on my Kindle Fire. I contacted Customer Service but they were unable to get it to function. I had to open it through the Kindle app on my PC.

Great Book, Good to follow

Rented the book, give it four stars due to the quality of the rental, BUT aside from that, this book is a GREAT microecon book to gain information and insight on the basics of economics.
